About me…
A love of learning and exploring the natural world is expressed in both my work and personal life. I have a unique collection of skills gathered during a lifetime, including my role as a mother and earlier career adventures in horticulture, landscape design, even emergency services. All along the way, nature and the intriguing discoveries of science have given me joy and grounded me in the present.
I am happiest when applying my creativity to share the fascinating world of nature and science in writing educational content and creating artwork. After completing my doctorate, I founded ‘Nature To You’ as a way to apply my diverse skills and experience to benefit others, while fulfilling my own curiosity and playfulness.
Qualifications:
Leading on from a degree in evolutionary biology, I gained first class honours in 2018, for research on ecological effects of ocean acidification.
My PhD completed early 2024, explored the benefits of healthy connections with nature, expanding my skills in social sciences. During my doctorate, I also worked on several other research projects supporting human wellbeing and environmental management. For example, I contributed to an in-depth First Nations cultural account for Blue Carbon accounting, reviewed literature on climate adaptation in home gardening, and conducted interviews with young people about their experience of climate and environment related anxiety.
All these areas of research have fuelled my passion to support human wellbeing so that biodiversity can thrive. In turn, better stewardship of nature, will ensure that humans can benefit long into the future!
Read more about my life and work in the Stories blog. It’s an easy way for the people in your team or community to get to know me better. I have a YouTube channel devoted to interacting with nature and have recently created a new website to share my wildlife and expressionist artwork.
